The climate is usually very hot owing to its location on the Globe, but the hot season which is totally dry too, comes in 2 different phases through out the year. There is a relief from the heat during the monsoons which also come in 2 different spells in the course of a year.The natural reserves of Suriname attract loads of tourists and visitors in to this quaint little country. The fact that the main contribution to the country’s economy is by the hotel and the tourism sector, itself says a whole lot of things about its tourist value. The attractions are numerous, but the major wonder which pulls visitors and tourists from all around the globe is the Amazonian rain forests. The South of Suriname has a variety of different kinds of flora and fauna in one of the major rain forests of the country. These forests attract not only the casual tourists and visitors, but also the ecologists and the environmentalists, longing to do research and study the bio diversity of the region.

The Nature reserves are numerous, but the largest of them all is the nature reserve of the Central part. A few of the other popular nature reserves are  Browns Berg nature Park, Tafelberg nature park and a natural reserve quite famous for its bird reserve located on the banks of the Coppename river.
