Paraguay is a small landlocked nation in the central part of South America, which is around the same size as California.

In terms of landscape it is a lesson in diversity. The eastern part of Paraguay is a lush paradise of green, fertile land, containing jungles and the exquisite Parana Plateau. Paraguay is actually noted in the Guinness Book of Records as the location of the worlds largest ever barbeque, hosting more than 30,000 eaters. The event, which was held in Mariano Roque Alonso township, on the outskirts of Asuncion, consumed 61,600 pounds of meat over the course of six hours, marking its place in the record books. The fires themselves occupied an area the size of a football field, allowing each participant to eat and average of two pounds of meat.

As a landlocked nation in South America, Paraguay stands alone, and has to rely on the usage of “free ports” in it neighbors Brazil and Argentina to allow its export trade to prosper.
