Quito is the capital and is located in central Ecuador, while Guayaquil has the largest population and is in the South. La Villa de San Antonio de Caraquezor simpler still, Bahia is famous as a vacation spot for wealthy tourists and Ecuadorians alike. It is located on a sandy peninsula on the western coast and it became an Ecocity in February 23rd 1999 because of the devastation wrecked on it from the two natural disasters of 1997 and 1998.

Another city of note is Manta in the Manabi province. It is the third most important city economically in Ecuador with the largest sea port. It is also the US military location for carrying out anti-narcotics military operations. It is also home to a film festival that sees groups from over the world flock to it.
