The traditional food of Columbia is a combination of European recipes and indigenous people. In their dishes, the Columbians use a lot of meat and fruits and many other things. The Columbian coffee is also very famous. |
A famous dish in Columbia is Pipian. The dish is made of boiled potatoes which are crushed to make a paste along with tomato, onion, red pepper, garlic, peanuts, boiled egg and local spices. There are many variations of the dish. Another popular dish in this part of the world is Fritanga. This dish is very famous throughout the country. This dish has lots of meat in it ranging from chops to steaks to sausages to organs etc. This dish is totally loved by all non vegetarians. This dish is served with friend bananas and potatoes.
Another dish eaten in the country especially in the Andes is Cuy (Guinea Pig). It can be eaten grilled or fried after the organs and the hair has been removed. It is a tasty dish and is a staple food of many in the country. Another famous dish is Pernil which is roasted pork. This is essentially a leg of the pork which has been roasted after being seasoned. The recipe of this dish also varies. It is served with potatoes and also the very famous corn pernil sandwich. There are many other popular dishes in the country and most have variations in the way they are cooked. The people here eat a lot of meat and thus, most of the famous dishes are non vegetarian.
