While traveling towards the north of Chile, one finds that the land becomes more and more arid. This is where Atacama Desert is located which is considered to be one of the most unfavorable and hostile regions in the world. On the contrary, while traveling to the south, one comes across Cape Horn, a strip of land surrounded by seas which are constantly in midst of storms.
Pacific islands such as Juan Fernández, Desventuradas, Salas y Gómez and Easter Island are also a part of the Chile territory. The climate of Chile varies from dry in the north to Mediterranean in the middle to rainy in the south.
