The 6891 meters high mountain is the highest volcano of the world. This strata-volcano mountain catches the eye of every tourist visiting Chile. The name Ojos Del Salado is referred as the eyes of the salty mountain.

The mountain is located very close to the Atacama Desert; due to this reason the mountain has dry conditions. In spite of these very dry conditions, a crater lake is present on the eastern side of the mountain at the height of approximately 20,000 feet. This lake is considered to be one of the biggest lakes of its kind in the world. There is still an argument whether Ojos Del Salado is the active volcanic mountain. It has two summit peaks, named Argentinean and Chilean summit.

It’s a must see for every tourist. Mountain climbing, staying in tents and various adventures makes it a good reason for every tourist. The mountain climbing doesn’t require any great skills as such; you don’t require ice axes or any crampons, as there is no snow except in winter where the peak is covered by snow.

You can witness some of the beautiful and alluring landscapes. You can travel to the mountain via a four wheeled vehicle up to a certain height and some more height if the weather is fine. One can hike at the Atacama Desert before the climb. You can witness the beautiful flamingos at the Lake Laguna Verde; hot springs of this lake are very pleasant.
