Festival In Queen Charlotte Islands

In addition, there are around 150 smaller islands. The Islands are separated from British Columbia by the Hecate Strait. Alaska is located towards the north of the Islands, separated by the Dixon Entrance.
There are several festivals celebrated in Queen Charlotte Islands. Here is a brief list of them.
- The Masset Harbour Days is celebrated on the Victoria Day weekend in May. It is usually a long weekend. It is a fun filled festival full of family events like parades, events, ball games, chainsaw carvings, barbecue and awards. The end of celebration is marked by fireworks.
- Hospital Day is celebrated in June and has been a tradition since 1909. Several events like parades, races, carnivals, dinners and dance are organized.
- Skidegate Days is celebrated in the second weekend of June. Families participate in races for all salmon barbecuing contests, carnivals, bingo, dinner and dance. However, the most popular is the Haida War Canoe race which sets off the event.
- Logger Sports Day is celebrated in July in Sandspit. Men and women both participate in several events like axe throwing, chain sawing, burling, choker set, and pole climbing.
- Canada Day is celebrated on July 1 at Port Clements. This event takes place over several days, and it is actually marked for celebrating the birth of Canada. Parades and balls are held throughout the festival duration.
- Edge of The World Music Festival is celebrated on second weekend of July in Tlell. It is mainly held to celebrate arts and crafts, and music in the community. Camping is popular during this festival.
- Tlell Fall Fair is celebrated in August in Tlell. It is one of the early fall festivals and is usually celebrated on a Sunday of a long weekend. Activities that take place are gardening competitions, crafts, animal husbandry and also pony rides.
