What Is The Capital Of Saudi Arabia ?

Riyadh is not only KSA’s capital; it is also the country’s largest urban center. Nestled in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula, Riyadh sits on a plateau and hosts more than 6 million people. The term Riyadh is from the rawdha, an Arabic word that means garden, particularly gardens formed after continuous rainfall. For more than 1500 years, Riyadh has served as an oasis located in the middle of the peninsula. It is famous for its dates, orchards and palm trees and until today, the capital still boasts beautiful orchards, palm trees and dates. Before it was called Riyadh, the settlement used to be called Hajr. Hajr its Riyadh’s pre-Islamic name and it was founded by Banu Hanifa.

The Saudi Arabian capital is divided into different branch municipalities. Each of these branch municipalities consist of several districts. There are 130 districts in Riyadh with the main districts of Al-Bat’ha, Al-Shemaysi, Al-Malaz, Al-Naseem, Irgah, Nemar, and Al-Shemal among others.

Riyadh is an ancient city but modern day Riyadh boasts modern skyscrapers and centers, the most prominent of which is the Kingdom Tower. This is the tallest building in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is one of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the area.

Apart from the business centers, Riyadh also has a lot of culturalcenters where tourists can visit. There are many museums in Saudi Arabia’s capital as well.
