Where Is Oman Located ?? This is a question that most travelers who are traveling for the first time to the Asian country ask. |
Oman is near Saudi Arabia and is engulfed by the Persian Gulf in the Southeast. The Sultanate of Oman lies on a vast desert plain with mountain ranges in its northern and southern coasts. Oman is a hot and dry country especially in its inner parts. Along the coast, it is very humid. Unlike its neighbors, Oman gets rainfall during the first month of the year and it also experiences monsoon rains from early July to October. The mountainous areas have more rainfall compared to the desert flat lands. Masirah, Oman in particular does not receive much rain during the year. The weather here is generally very hot and temperatures usually reach about 130’F especially during May to early September.
The Asian country is not very rich in flora and fauna. Desert shrubs and grasses common to Arabian deserts can be found in Oman. Vegetation, is of course sparse in its interior but in the mountains, one can find lots of green trees and plants during the summer, right after the monsoon rains. There are lots of coconut palms in the mountains and Frankincense also grows in Oman’s hills. Acacia and Oleander are also available in these areas making the mountains the major eco zone in the country.
The most pressing concern for Oman is the lack of water in the country. Maintaining a supply for agricultural and domestic usage is a very hard thing to do especially with Oman having very limited water resources.
