Bahrain contains a beautiful blend of the ancient history and culture of the Arab world along with modern influences. There are several places in Bahrain which are worth visiting. The number one tourist hot spot in Bahrain is the capital city of Manama. This place has a thriving nightlife, shopping malls, museum and several other attractions. Main museums in Bahrain include the Museum of Pearl Diving, the Bahrain National Museum, Oil Museum and so on. The museum of Pearl diving was once the official center of the Bahrain courts. The Oil Museum showcases oil drills, photos documents and models of oil rigs whereas the National Museum has a display of artifacts which highlights the rich and colorful history of this region. The Bair Al Qu'ran contains a collection of Quranic verses and documents.
The collection is varied and vast. The souks in Bahrain are famed for gold, pearls and handicrafts. Tourists throng these market places in search of a good bargain. Siyadi House is a house built by a pearl merchant. It reflects the architectural splendor of Bahrain with stained glasses, beautifully designed ceilings and screens and so on. Shaikh Isa’s house is another example of the architectural splendor of Bahrain. The village of A’alli with its royal tombs is a popular tourist destination. This place is also well known for pottery items. Bani Jamrah is a traditional Bahraini village which is famed for its handicrafts, traditional baskets etc. This is a perfect place for tourists to pick up some souvenirs.
There are several beaches in Bahrain. They are well kept and perfect for sunbathing, diving and swimming. Muharraq Island with its 19th century houses and its famed souk is another place worth visiting. The King Fahad Causeway which links Bahrain to the neighboring country of Saudi Arabia is a must-see. This is one of the world’s most expensive bridges and stands as a symbol of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
