There are several religions in the Middle East and actually, it was the epicenter for several religions to blossom. There were hundreds of tribes and cults in the Middle East that basically led to it being a war zone for competing deities. |
One of the first deities known to man in the Middle East was the Ahura Mazda and then the Yahweh. Yahweh was worshipped mostly by Israelites. However, what changed religion forever in the Middle East was the birth of Jesus. The Jewish people then converted Yahweh to Jehovah.
Jehovah was the most worshipped god for several years. Then, gradually, Muhammad was introduced. The Mohammedans believed that Yahweh and Jehovah were just an offshoot of Allah. This was the main reason why Christians and Muslims were created, and they fought over their gods and beliefs. Over the centuries, the main gods were further divided into sects, schisms and para-dimensions, and people took to their own sects. This only created more strife and war among them.
No one agreed with the values of the other religion in spite of them having the same origins. The history of Middle East can be very confusing actually. There were so many rulers in so many places through the ages. Some of them were Assyrian, Babylonian, Chaldean, Hittite, Persian, Phoenician, Armenian, Syrian, Semite, Sumerian, and Zoroastrian. None of these worshipped the same kind of god. In fact, each one had his own deity. This led to a lot of ethnic cleansing and killing on the name of religion and caste.
