Mountains In Ghana

There are numerous mountains in Ghana. In Ghana, Mount Afadjato is considered to be the highest mountain. It stands at an altitude of 2900 feet, approximately 800 meters. The mountain can be found near the Gbledi and Liati Wote villages which are within the Agumatsa Range. Near Mount Afadjato is Aduadu.

But while it looks like a mountain and possesses the country’s highest point, it is not considered as one. This is primarily because, its relative height is small. The name of Mount Afadjato is sadi to be derived from the word Avadzeto from the Ewe tribe that means ‘at war with bush’. The name is said to be derived from a plant that grows near the mountain that causes skin irritation.

There is also the Adukulu mountains. The mountain is considered to be ideal for such activities as mountain hikes and camping. The mountain has beautiful fauna and flora. Mountaineers and tourists hike to the top of the tourists to get an aerial view of the surrounding areas and also get a chance to see the beautiful butterflies, monkeys and birds.

Ghana is also home to the Krobo Mountains. According to history, when the Krobo moved to Ghana, they settled on the mountains. The mountains are a popular tourist attraction. They are home to beautiful relics, ruins and unique architectural designs of buildings used by the Krobo in the 15th and 16th Century. Kwahu Scarp and Mount Dzebobo are other mountains that can be found in Ghana. The two offer beautiful sceneries of surrounding areas.
