Egypt was a British colony. Egyptians, in spite of their power and military ability were made a colony of the British. The British had fought for control over Egypt with the French. The French withdrew and left the British to control Cairo. These events took place between 1882 and 1952. The British went ahead to impose ideals and demands to the rules of Egypt.
Egypt became free from British rule after many years of lobbying, political up rise and intense pressure from influential people across Egypt. Delegations were sent to Britain to seek the autonomy of Egypt. Arrests of these delegation leaders were made. The British through Allenby worked on a plan, which would secure British interests in Egypt. Allenby work was because of intense pressure coming from the European community about British occupation of Egypt. The plan worked and a declaration of independence was made. This helped Egypt become free from British rule. This happened in February 28 1922.
The declaration of Egypt’s independence in 1922 freed the rulers of Egypt’s of British influence and legislation. This meant that, the British protectorate was ended. Other matters were left pending following this declaration. However, a government was in place. On 15th march 1922, king Fuhad took over as official leader of Egypt. He ruled from 1922to 1936. After this, Egypt has enjoyed its independence successfully.
