Who Is The President Of Algeria ?

The head of state or the chief executive of Algeria is called the President. He is also the commander-in-chief of the country. Who is the President of Algeria?
The incumbent President of Algeria was born on the year of 1937, 2nd day of March in Oujda, Morocco.

He was the 2nd child and the first baby boy of his parents. He has 4 brothers and a sister and 3 half sisters. His brother Ssid serves as his personal physician.

President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of the National Liberation Front won the election last April 9, 2009 with a 12,911,705 votes which consisted of 90.4 percent of the total votes. His political career started last April 27, 1999 where he was first elected as President of Algeria. He garnered 81 percent of votes against the former Algerian President Zeroual. Then in 2004, he was re-elected as president with 85 percent votes. Again, he won over his opponent Ali Benflis. Although some of the Algerian voters boycotted the election, it only comprised 11% of the voting population. During the second term of his leadership rose fears of hostility with France because of the very controversial voting by the French parliament. But this was immediately resolved when they signed a friendship treaty last February 23, 2004 and extended up to December 2005. On November 26 2005, he was hospitalized due to gastric ulcer hemorrhage and became seriously ill with a stomach cancer in April 2006. He chose Abdlaziz Belkhadem as the new Prime Minister in 2006. Last April 10, 2009, he again victoriously won the presidency for the third time which he is going to serve as president for another five years.
